It's the same old story: interchange rates are going up, up and up. For the average petroleum retailer, the cost for accepting PIN debit (which was once considered a bargain) STARTS at $0.15 to $0.18 before even calculating the interchange % of the sale.  Some networks offer interchange rate caps (maximum rate), while some others do not.

For the grocery industry, most interchange rates range between a fixed $0.21 to $0.35 per transaction.  There is an opportunity to save some money in this category as well.

The regular retailer, once enamored by PIN debit, has seen most of the networks remove their interchange rate caps as the networks capitalize on the popularity of debit transactions (and PIN debit especially).

Are there opportunities to cut costs?  ABSOLUTELY!

In this webinar, the CEO of TDG-Phenix, a nationally renown expert in ACH transaction processing, will spend two hours explaining the opportunities to implement a card-based ACH debit program to cut the cost of payment acceptance.

The session will cover the following topics:

  • Setting up the program - 'build or buy', consumer enrollment, authorization requirements, components of an ACH card
  • The ACH transaction - it's not a WEB, TEL, PPD or anything else you think it might be
  • Economics of ACH card vs. signature debit, PIN debit or even (eek) credit
  • Successful examples of ACH card programs
  • Attaching loyalty to ACH card programs
  • Risk management of ACH card programs - tools, vendors and third parties to help evaluate the propensity to pay
  • The bank opportunity - can a financial institution play (and make money) in this space?  (Hint: the answer is YES)
  • Questions and answers

This economy requires that organizations evaluate all their costs and evaluate opportunities to save money.  Payment acceptance is still a good area to examine and determine cost savings opportunities.
